The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Climate Adaptation Fund (“the Fund”) strives to increase the pace and scale of impact in adaptation for wildlife and ecosystems by increasing innovation, accelerating learning, and mainstreaming proven adaptation approaches. The WCS Climate Adaptation Fund will provide up to $2.5 million in competitive grants in 2021.

NEW THIS YEAR: Awards will be made to non-profit conservation organizations applying for one of two grant categories:

  • Adaptation Implementation projects that apply innovative approaches to conservation actions designed to help wildlife and ecosystems adapt to climate change. These projects must include evidence gathering and results sharing components to advance learning in the field. Adaptation Implementation grants will be up to $300,000 over 3 years.
  • Adaptation Mainstreaming projects that pursue pathways to unlock the potential of an adaptation approach with known benefits to be adopted at a large scale. Adaptation Mainstreaming grants will be up to $100,000 over 2 years.

The WCS Climate Adaptation Fund is unable to make grants to for-profit corporations, individuals, universities, public agencies, municipalities or other types of government entities. However, we encourage and expect that many projects will be implemented in collaborative partnership between the leading non-profit organization and a diverse array of natural resource practitioners.

Application Deadline: Pre-proposals due Wednesday, April 28, 2021 by 4:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM ET.  Full proposals due in July, 2021 by invitation only.
