I teach a class, COM 3420 - Media, Culture and the Environment where we look at the ways environmental issues are communicated through news media, popular culture and by environmental orgs.  I have done work on waters issues, audience testing of PSA messaging, and communication campaign effectiveness.  I am currently working with students on a project, "Finding Nero: Fiddling in Florida While the Planet Burns" - going after legislators who are blocking any attempts to address CC.  We have an initial blog that will be developed in the coming weeks - http://findingnero.blog.com/
