Position: This is a 12-month non-tenure track faculty position with a 80% extension and 20% research appointment in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, The University of Georgia. The position is home based at the University of Georgia Campus in Athens, Georgia and is supported by grant funding for a period of three years with renewals possible.
Duties & Responsibilities: The faculty member will be responsible for implementing an extension and applied research program aimed at reducing climate and weather risks in agriculture and natural resource management in Georgia and other southeastern states under the auspices of the Southeast Climate Consortium (http://www.SEClimate.org) and the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center Climate Change project (http://www.extension.org). The incumbent will develop educational products and conduct Extension outreach programs to deliver science-based knowledge to agricultural producers and consumers, enabling them to make informed practical decisions relative to greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, and the existing and emerging options available to them. He/she will work with Extension contacts, climatologists, natural resource managers, scientists and stakeholder representatives within Georgia and neighboring states to form a working group that will coordinate agricultural climate change-related outreach efforts within the region.
